As a young kid, Ryan Bradford was obsessed with pro wrestling. From the moment he saw it, he was hooked. When the opportunity to learn “real wrestling” came up, he signed up and began to immerse himself in the Jiu Jitsu world.
After training with a few different coaches, he started training full time 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu with 10th Planet Black Belt Al Alejandro at a small gym in Granada Hills. It was during this time that he bonded with Coach Alder over their mutual love of 1990s pro wrestling. When the gym in Granda Hills cancelled their martial arts program, he immediately called Alder. He’s been his student ever since. Under Coach Alder, he has competed, coached competitors, earned his blue and purple belts, and was one of the original fundamentals coaches at 10th Planet Van Nuys.
His approach to teaching Jiu Jitsu is to scaffold the learning process. He believes that you need to learn the fundamental movements and submissions before you can move onto more complex techniques. As an educator by day, he understands that small details can be the difference in understanding what is being taught and in retention of material.
Due to work and life commitments, he currently serves as a substitute coach. He is available for privates and small group lessons.
